Results Part 1: How Growth Planning Helps Achieve Life-Goals

NOTE:

These results are from the initial 2005-2006 beta test of our growth planning process.  We are now in the process of gathering longitudinal results from two groups:

  • High school age youth participating in our future-use college scholarship and immediate-use cash payment Incentives Program
  • 8th grade and high school age youth now using (1) the totally revised "back office" of our website where they build and benchmark their Growth Plan, and (2) our totally revised mindset & lifestyle change and development curriculum.

As soon as these more current results are available, they will be posted here.

__________

During 2005 and early 2006, 29 high school and 51 college students in 8 different growth planning groups helped us test whether our growth planning process was helping develop what we call a lifelong growth planning mindset.  After taking about a 15 hours over several months to build their Growth Plan, students completed a final evaluation using a 7-point scale to rate how helpful they thought building and implementing a personal Growth Plan would be in achieving their life-goals.  Here is a brief summary of these goal achievement field-test results.

            • 26% extremely helpful
        • 34% very helpful

>> 14% NOT SURE whether growth planning would help them achieve their life-goals.

>> 8% RATE PROCESS NOT HELPFUL in achieving their life-goals including:
