Want to help?

Here are 3 ways you can help us serve more high school and college age youth in the Twin Cities, Jacksonville, and nationally.

#1: Become A Contributor

We are a research-oriented nonprofit dedicated to making a measurably positive and lasting difference in the everyday lives of high school and college age students in our community. To accomplish this mission, we need both general operating and special project contributions of any size. Such contributions will make it possible for us to serve more youth and to continually field-test and improve our growth planning process, especially for @risk-w/high-potential youth.

For example, a contribution of $1,000 would enable us to provide college scholarship and cash contributions to help an at risk high school student develop a lifelong growth planning mindset and lifestyle by participating for one year in our new Growth Planning Incentives Program. Or, a contribution of $250 would enable a Growth Plan Coach to closely work with this student in this Program for a year. [For more information, click the "Incentives Program" link in this section of our website.]

To find out more (or to answer your questions) about making a contribution, please use the link at the bottom of this page.  Or, you may send your tax-deductible contribution to:

#2: Become A Volunteer

We need volunteers to serve as Growth Plan Coaches and Support Network Members. A Coach helps both develop and implement a Growth Plan; and, once developed, a Support Network Member helps implement it on a day-to-day basis.

  • As a Growth Plan Coach, you would be trained in our growth planning process so you can enable youth to develop and implement their Growth Plan. Along the way, you share your own personal experiences, insights, and lessons learned about setting and achieving (or sometimes failing to achieve) your own personal life-goals.  There are two opportunities to become a volunteer Growth Plan Coach:
    • 1) Assigned Growth Plan Coaches are trained and then assigned to a team of coaches who work in a school or youth-serving nonprofit organization where we have a growth planning program.  [Click here to see this Assigned Growth Plan Coach Job Description.]
    • 2) Entrepreneurial Growth Plan Coaches are trained to proactively identify and recruit one or more youth from their own family, neighborhood, church, etc.  Then they coach these youth while being guided by an experienced MyGrowthPlan.Org staff member.  [Click here to see this Entrepreneurial Growth Plan Coach Job Description.]
  •  As a Support Network Member, you would be trained in our growth planning process, and then matched with a high school or college age growth planner who has completed a Growth Plan. Your basic function would be to become a trusted person in their life, encouraging and helping them keep up the critical, forward-progress momentum needed to achieve their goals and long-term vision. At a minimum, this means going online to our website at least once every three months to post your suggestions and offers to help your growth planner meet his or her Quarterly Performance Progress Benchmarks. If you like, you can arrange to meet in person to discuss his or her Growth Plan. We especially need Support Network members who can become a Personal Career Mentor to a growth planner.

#3: Help Us Identify Organizations & PEOPLE

And, here are some ways you can help us simply by giving us leads to interested organizations and individuals.

  • Partnering Organizations.  Do you know of any Twin City or Jacksonville high school, college, or youth serving organization that may be interested in adding our growth planning process to what they're already doing to serve high school or college youth?  If so, please use the link below.

  • Contributors. Do you know of any individuals, corporations or foundations that may be interested in making a contribution to support our work, If so, please use the link below.

  • Board Members. We are still looking for a few Jacksonville and Twin City area persons to be on our governing Board of Directors. They should have experience and/or a strong interest in helping @risk-w/high-potential 8th grade, high school youth, or young adults. If you are interested yourself or have a suggested name, please use the link below.
